On 22 September 2021, the OCCAR-EA Director, Matteo BISCEGLIA visited the MTU Aero Engines at its premises in Munich.

He was welcomed by the Chief Programme Officer Michael Schreyögg along with the President of Europrop International (EPI), Hervé Bouaziz.

During the visit, the OCCAR-EA Director had the opportunity to be updated from an industrial perspective on the main activities concerning the OCCAR Programme A400M.

While visiting the production line, the Director had also the chance to appreciate the innovative assembly systems adopted by MTU, where the engines are fitted to a freely moving system which allows modules to be fully assembled or dismantled without any further assistance.

In addition, MTU presented the ongoing research and development activities. In particular, the advanced concept of engine maintenance being developed, aims at improving the effectiveness of the engine support, while ensuring maximum availability, reliability and flexibility for the maximum benefit for the customers.

This would potentially represent a game–changer to maximise the maintenance engine efficiency within the new A400M Future Engine Support Contract (FESC).
