The Final Official Acceptance (FOA) ceremony was held on 22 October 2022 at the Muggiano Shipyard in La Spezia, Italy, to mark the successful delivery of the second Multi-purpose Offshore Patrol Vessel (PPA) Francesco Morosini.
The PPA Vessel was named after Francesco Morosini, the 108th Doge of Venice and General Sea Captain of the Venetian Fleet (1688 – 1694).
PPA2 FOA saw the participation of the Chief of the Italian Navy, Admiral Enrico Credendino, the OCCAR-EA Director Mr Matteo Bisceglia and the Director of the Italian Naval Armaments Directorate, Vice Admiral Massimo Guma.
Mr Dario Deste, President of Fincantieri Marine Group, and Leonardo General Manager Mr Valerio Cioffi attended the event representing the Temporary Consortium, responsible for the ship’s development and production. Mrs Carola Morosini, the ship’s Godmother, also attended the ceremony.
The delivery of Francesco Morosini, with zero activities not terminated, is an outstanding achievement for both OCCAR-EA and the Italian Navy.
The Italian Navy has a new ship to be integrated into its fleet, joining Thaon di Revel, the first PPA delivered in March 2022.
