Successful Live Firing of ATGM Spike LR2 from a BOXER Vehicle

Pabradė, Lithuania, 14/15 May 2025 – A significant milestone for the OCCAR BOXER Programme has been achieved. Lithuania, as one of the four Participating States in the OCCAR BOXER Programme, was the first nation to develop a BOXER Infantry Fighting Vehicle named VILKAS.

These vehicles are equipped with modern weaponry, including Anti-Tank capabilities and allowing the use of SPIKE missiles.

Lithuania requested OCCAR-EA to support the integration of the new ATGM Spike LR2 capability into the BOXER system and this was successfully verified through live fire testing last week at the General Silvestras Žukauskas training ground in Pabradė, Lithuania, where both SPIKE LR and LR2 missiles were successfully fired.

The integration of the SPIKE LR2 capability provides a significant enhancement to the overall BOXER capability, allowing effective destruction of tanks, high armoured vehicles and other targets, and thus providing the Lithuanian Army better tactical flexibility to adapt to various battle conditions. The BOXER Programme is delivered by OCCAR-EA through a contract with ARTEC GmbH, a joint venture of KNDS and Rheinmetall.
