Cherbourg 22-23 February 2024 – OCCAR-EA presented
its MMPC Programme at Cherbourg Conference Europe’s Naval Sector, a two-day
conference dedicated to the Europe’s Naval Defence Sector.
MMPC Programme Manager Mr. Andrea Millerani Trapani, held a presentation on the MMPC, a Programme
co-funded by the European Commission (EC) and named as European Patrol Corvette
(EPC) Project in the European Defence Cooperation scenario, explaining the
integration process of the project in OCCAR, the advantages of OCCAR
management, the effective relationship between OCCAR and the European
Commission, the description of the current objectives of the project and the eventual
future possibilities for the following phases of the programme.
The event, brought together the European Commission
Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (EC DG DEFIS), the European
Defence Agency (EDA), the main European Shipyards Companies (Fincantieri, Naval
Group, Navantia, Damen and SAAB) and others 16 Small/Medium Enterprises, was
focused on Industrial shipyard digitalization processes, Digital Ships and
Twin, Unmanned Vehicles in Air/Surface/Underwater domain, High Energy Weapons,
Stealth technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
The event provided a great opportunity to meet and
connect with like-minded individuals, as well as expert in the Warship sector,
to share knowledge, to stay up-to-date with industry trends, to build brand
awareness and to explore new products and services.
The results and outputs of the conference highlighted
that MMPC, considering the state of the art and time availability of most of
the innovative and groundbreaking solutions introduced, could be a great
opportunity for the Participating States to build a new class of cutting-edge
future ships.
