OCCAR-EA Director visits A400M Main Operating Base in Wunstorf, Germany


Wunstorf, northern Germany 24 September, 2024 - The OCCAR-EA Director, Mr. Joachim Sucker, visited the German A400M Main Operating Base in Wunstorf, where the Lufttransportgeschwader 62 (Air Transport Wing 62) operates the largest A400M fleet.

To date, Germany has received 46 out of the 53 ordered aircraft.

The visit was organised in cooperation with industrial partners and was also attended by Mr. Gerd Weber, the CEO of AMSL (Airbus), BrigGen Stephan Knobloch, the Head of Department H German Air Force Command and Mr. Andreas Ruge, the OCCAR A400 M Deputy Programme Manager.

The major purpose of that visit was to receive first-hand information from one of the main A400M operators. The base commander Colonel Markus Knoll presented the current missions but also the main challenges of the squadron.

Further to the visit of the A400M facilities, the Air Transport Wing 62 also demonstrated their impressive training capabilities, which are also used by partner Nations. The visit was concluded with a presentation of the current and future concept of the on-site industry support.
