OCCAR-EA Director Signs LSS Contract Amendment Nr. 7 for Italy

Rome/Italy, 25 June, 2025 – The OCCAR-EA Director, Mr. Joachim Sucker, together with Mr. Fulvio Palermo, Vice President Project Management of Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division, has officially signed the 7th LSS Contract Amendment on behalf of Italy.

This amendment introduces a wide set of engineering and commercial updates aimed at further optimizing the performance and reliability of the Logistic Support Ships. The newly approved changes reflect lessons learned from recent operational experience and are designed to support evolving mission requirements.

Several of the approved proposals have already been shared with industry partners, laying the groundwork for technical enhancements that will strengthen the LSS fleet’s operational readiness and future sustainability. These updates confirm the programme’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

Another step forward in the journey towards the delivery of the ship to the Italian Navy (official acceptance).

Thanks to the enduring close cooperation between Italy and France within the OCCAR framework, the programme continues to build a robust fleet of six LSS units—four for France, two for Italy, and one additional unit as an option for the Italian Navy
