OCCAR U212 NFS Programme Division participates in NATO Coordinator Rescue Forces Course (CRF)


Taranto, Italy, 27 June 2024 – At the invitation of the Italian General Staff, Mr. Antonio Palomba, a representative of the NFS PD, and Mr. Cannarozzo  NFS Programme Manager, attended part of the Coordinator Rescue Forces Course (CRF) in Taranto.

This course focuses on training personnel in the coordination of submarine rescue operations and was organized by ISMERLO (International Submarine Escape and Rescue Liaison Office), a unit of Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) dedicated to coordinating international efforts for submarine escape and rescue.

Mr. Palomba presented the OCCAR U212 NFS Programme, which is designed in accordance with the most innovative international safety standards and fully compliant with the new SAVER Rescue System, which the Italian Navy  will implement in the near future. He shared safety-related technical solutions, specifically highlighting the Lithium Battery System and its safety aspects, with international participants.

Furthermore, he had the opportunity to acquire best practices and information from sector experts regarding procedures and technology for Submarine Search and Rescue, focusing particularly, on the C2 Chain (Command & Control), crisis management and technical aspects.
