OCCAR HYDEF Programme Achieves Milestones EM MTR and PRM 4

San Fernando (Cádiz) - Spain, 29-30 October 2025 – During a two-day session at the NAVANTIA facilities the HYDEF Programme has met the technical milestone (EM MTR) and the management milestone (PRM4).

The main objective of the Early Maturation Mid-Term Review (EM MTR) was to provide an overview of the progress made of the critical technology maturing. During the meeting, with the participation of OCCAR HYDEF PD, the Participating States (PSs) and all the HYDEF Consortium Beneficiaries, risks associated with developing low TRL technologies were addressed and strategies for risk mitigation proposed. Solutions that may not be viable were identified and a roadmap for the remaining time up to the last technical milestone, the Preliminary Requirements Review (PRR) was established. Finally, the Consortium explained which solutions are promising and how they are reasonably achievable in the timeframe available.

After finishing this meeting, the OCCAR HYDEF Programme will lead to the PRR Milestone at August 2026, when the selected concept will be defined, incorporating the technical solutions and plans, along with the Physical and Functional concept and the corresponding functional tree. PRR results shall consider interoperability requirements based on compliance with recognised international standards (e.g., STANAGs) and will also present Life Cycle Cost (LCC) information with the chosen concept.

The Progress Review Meeting 4 (PRM 4) was held between the Project Coordinator (SMS), the Project Manager of each Beneficiary and HYDEF Programme Division. The HYDEF Consortium presented to HYDEF PD the general status of the programme covering progress, KPIs, schedule review, risks assessment and mitigation, financial, quality control, ethics and other aspects.

Both milestones were successfully achieved on schedule.
