OCCAR Awards Landmark Contract for Wide Wet Gap Crossing Capability

Bonn/Germany, 30 October 2025 - OCCAR is proud to announce the successful award of a landmark contract for the Wide Wet Gap Crossing (WWGC) capability on behalf of its Participating States, Germany and the United Kingdom (UK).

The ceremony, held at OCCAR-EA’s headquarters in Bonn, marked a significant milestone in bilateral defence cooperation, building on the commitment made by the Participating States within the Trinity House Agreement of 2024 and served to acknowledge the shared strategic vision to modernise and strengthen Europe’s ability to overcome natural barriers in high-intensity and expeditionary operations.

The M3 EVO bridging system capability that will be delivered under the WWGC Programme provides enhanced operational mobility and flexibility for the Participating States, enabling rapid deployment and manoeuvre across challenging terrain in both combat and humanitarian scenarios. It has been developed and will be produced by General Dynamics European Land Systems – Bridge Systems (GDELS-BS) at its facility in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

The OCCAR WWGC Programme Division, will be based at OCCAR premises in Bonn and will oversee the development, production, testing, delivery and initial in-service support of this critical capability, ensuring it remains adaptable to evolving operational requirements and future threats.
