OCCAR and NSPA renew partnership for enhanced support to nations across NATO and Europe

PARIS, 17 June 2024 – In the margins of Eurosatory 2024, OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation)-EA Director, Mr. Joachim Sucker and Ms. Stacy Cummings, General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of the NATO Support and Procurement Organization (NSPO) with the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR). This MoU, focusing on logistic services cooperation, extends partnership between the two organisations for another two decades.

The MoU establishes a formal framework for the provision of NSPA logistic services to OCCAR on a programme-by-programme basis. These services encompass a wide range of support activities, including supply, maintenance, procurement of goods and services, transportation, configuration control, and technical assistance.

Highlighting the significance of the renewed agreement, it was noted that NSPO and OCCAR share similar business values aimed at supporting their user nations. Both organizations recognize the importance of leveraging each other's competencies to deliver effective and efficient support. This mutual recognition has fostered a long and successful history of cooperation spanning two decades across various programmes.

The renewed MoU reflects a shared vision to continue this collaboration, building on past successes and exploring new opportunities. Emphasis was placed on identifying common challenges and unlocking opportunities for strengthened cooperation, acknowledging the complementary strengths of OCCAR and NSPA.

Mr. Sucker said “Over the past 20 years, we have clearly demonstrated, that OCCAR and NSPA as partners, each within their own areas of expertise, can effectively deliver armament capabilities vital for Europe´s defence. With this MoU renewal, which comes at a crucial time for Europe and the world, we are jointly re-committing and further strengthening this growing partnership for the next 20 years and beyond.”

Ms. Cummings commented on the renewal, stating, "This MoU renewal is another step forward as we leverage past successes and continue to join forces towards enhanced cooperation, reinforcing our commitment to support to nations across Europe and the Alliance."

The renewed MoU will remain valid for 20 years, solidifying the commitment of both organizations to long-term collaboration and support.
