Italian Logistic Support Ship (LSS) Atlante Successfully Completes First Sea Going Review and First Sea Going

Castellammare di Stabia/Italy, 25 March, 2025 – The Italian Logistic Support Ship (LSS) Atlante successfully achieved the important milestone the "First Sea Going Review" on 18 March, 2025 and has completed the "First Sea Going" in the Gulf of Naples on 25 March 2025. It is the 2nd Italian new generation LSS.

The First Sea Going is a crucial milestone in the delivery of a military vessel. It marks the beginning of a series of contractual sea trials, conducted to verify the compliance with operational requirements and to fine-tune the ship’s onboard systems and equipment. Industry, OCCAR LSS Programme Division staff and national authority representatives met to verify that all the contractual conditions have been achieved in order to allow the ships and their crew to go safely at sea. According to current plans, the Atlante will complete its sea trials by July 2025.

Another step forward in the journey towards the delivery of the ship to the Italian Navy (official acceptance).

The OCCAR LSS programme involves the development and production of six ships, as well as their In-Service support (ISS). The LSS Atlante represents the second Italian logistic ship built under the OCCAR-managed naval programmes in close cooperation with and on behalf of the OCCAR Member States Italy and France.
