Raufoss (Norway), 27-28 August 2024 – During a two-day session held at the NAMMO facilities, the HYDEF Programme has achieved the second technical milestone Mission Definition Review (MDR).
The MDR marks the end of the Pre-Feasibility Phase. Its scope was focused on the Mission and the Concepts developed to accomplish it. An evaluation of the operation concepts, operational capabilities and expected performance of the options so far created were presented. This included user and mission requirements, a threat investigation, weapons and sensor system identification and high-level model of the System.
The mission has been established through the developed Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and a set of Scenarios, and the ICRs (Initial Common Requirements) provided by the Participating States (PSs) leading to a set of Top-Level Requirements (TLRs).
Based on TLRs, a multi-layered Top-Level Architecture has been envisaged, and requirements have been defined on all levels of this Top-Level Architecture.
A set of simulators has been defined to be developed in the Feasibility Phase to assess critical architecture-element figures of merit.
An initial bottom-up requirements assessment and preliminary requirements specification has been performed for the sub-elements of the Interceptor, as starting point for the requirements analysis and feasibility assessment in the Feasibility Phase.
Technical results reached in the MDR shall be the foundation of the HYDEF Interceptor feasibility study and early maturation of critical technologies and designs.
Following the meeting, a full-scale test firing demonstration of a Ramjet was conducted at NAMMO's test facility.
