The steel cutting of the bow section for the 2nd FLOTLOG type logistic support units LSS (Logistic Support Ship) ordered by Chantiers de l’Atlantique to Fincantieri under the LSS programme, took place on 1 February 2022 in Fincantieri’s Castellammare di Stabia shipyard.
This section will be part of the 2nd FL LSS named “Jacques Stosskopf”, scheduled to be delivered in 2025, as the first one, LSS “Jacques Chevallier”, is currently in final assembly at Saint-Nazaire shipyard.
The Franco-Italian LSS Programme led by OCCAR on behalf of DGA, the French Armament General Directorate, and its Italian counterpart, NAVARM, consists of the development and construction of five Logistic Support Ships (LSS), along with the In-Service support.
In total, the OCCAR LSS’s portfolio consists of 6 units (+1 option), as follows:
For Italy, 1 in service (ITS “Vulcano”), 1 on order, 1 in option;
For France, 4 FL LSS ordered by OCCAr to the temporary consortium between Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Naval Group and destined to the French Navy.
