Finalisation of the Upgrade Programme for 272 German BOXER Vehicles

Freisen/Germany, 29 January 2026: KNDS Deutschland invited ARTEC, OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation), BAAINBw and the German BOXER users for a handover ceremony of the last vehicle completed from the upgrade campaign A1 to A2.

The upgrade of 272 GTK BOXERs started in 2019 and was successfully completed in December 2025. This upgrade brings the existing German BOXER fleet to a uniform level at the A2 configuration, and ensures the operational capability and future sustainability of the entire German BOXER fleet. OCCAR together with KNDS particularly thanked all those involved for their commitment and the strong cooperation.

Furthermore, an outlook was given on the contracts signed at the end of last year for the production of 198 new BOXERs, including the new IFV RCT30 (Schakal) variant, as well as upgrades of 72 BOXER Ambulances for Germany. These workstreams are now actively underway, with key milestones and further announcements expected in later 2026.

Senior attendees, such as the Minister of Economics of Saarland, highlighted the importance of these increasing orders for the region and the growing potential of the KNDS facilities.
