Fifth HYDEF Core Stakeholders Workshop Successfully Completed



Überlingen/ Germany 3-5 June 2025. Diehl Defence hosted the fifth European Hypersonic Defence Interceptor (HYDEF)´s Core Stakeholders Workshop (CSW#5) at its industrial facility in Überlingen/Germany.
The three-day meeting was attended by national experts from the HYDEF Participating States, industrial partners of the HYDEF Consortium and the OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) HYDEF Programme Division.

The goal was to provide an overview of the Interceptor solution space, discussing the rationale for the design decisions, explaining the results of the assessments and trade-offs based in mission compliance and measures of effectiveness, and agreeing on the concepts and options for detailed study until the end of this phase.

HYDEF Technical Coordinator (Diehl Defence) led the workshop presenting thoroughly the concepts and options, and their relationship with the Concept of Operations and the Mission. The wide set of Figures of Merit used for the assessment was explained, and the different solutions for HYDEF System were quantitatively and qualitatively compared not only between them but also benchmarked with other systems.

The explanations about HYDEF System and Interceptor were complemented by expositions of other partners about the subsystems in their scope. The material for the workshop included not only technical documentation but also detailed videos of the Concept of Operations and the breakdown of the Interceptor, as well as a near to scale mock-up of the interceptor. Finally, the next steps and the foreseen evolution of the project was presented by SMS as Project Coordinator of the Consortium.
