Bonn/Germany – 29 November, 2024 - The Global Support Contract (GSC),
which is the major contract between Airbus Helicopters and OCCAR-EA in support
of the Tiger helicopter fleet of France, Germany and Spain worth almost Euro € 430,000,000 was signed.
This 2nd Amendment will extend services for five additional
years for the benefit of the three nations.
The contractual scope ensures the supply of helicopter spare parts and
their repairs, the obsolescence management services, as well as the sustainment
of the production and repair lines of the supply chain.
Based on lessons learned over the past five years, OCCAR-EA has
implemented in this 2nd amendment
some
significant improvements, especially in the area of obsolescence management.
The aim was to increase the capability and the autonomy of the contractor for a
faster and leaner management process, the obsolescence challenge being a
critical one before the Mid Life Upgrade (MLU) foreseen with the Tiger MkIII.
In addition, for the sole benefit of France, the GSC provides all the
necessary maintenance and technical support services from Airbus teams deployed
permanently on FR army sites. This service-by-the-hour work package also targets
the availability of the necessary spare parts, and this stock is fully managed
by Airbus Helicopters.
The successful signature of the 2nd Amendment of the Global
Support Contract paves the way for the long-term sustainment of the Tiger
helicopter.
