FSAF-PAAMS SAMP/T NG system: Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the third radar KRONOS GM HP successfully completed

Fusaro/Italy – 29-30 October 2024, the Factory Acceptance Tests of the third radar KRONOS GM HP were successfully completed at the Leonardo premises in Fusaro in presence of the OCCAR-EA / FSAF-PAAMS experts. An important set of tests have been performed, to evaluate all features and related performances of the Kronos radar, to confirm that the radar fully meets the expected requirements.

Within the framework of FSAF-PAAMS Programme, the Italian variant of the SAMP/T NG system to be delivered to the Italian Army and Air Force, integrates the new radar Kronos GM HP developed and produced by Leonardo in its premises of Fusaro / Arco Felice in Italy. The radar is a high-performance multifunctional sensor, designed to counter any type of air and missile threats simultaneously, with a high tactical mobility and quick strategic deployment.

OCCAR awarded EUROSAM with the production contract for the radars in December 2021 to ensure the future integration within the SAMP/T NG sections that will be delivered starting from 2026. The successful completion of the radars’ Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) is an important milestone in the production stage of the system’s, performed under the supervision of OCCAR-EA.

OCCAR-EA highlights the importance for this achievement from industry and express their full satisfaction for the FAT results, providing the third sensor to secure the serial production of the SAMPT NG systems for Italian Army. This is a significant progress made by industry, which demonstrates a strong commitment to the programme's ultimate success.
