FSAF-PAAMS SAMP/T NG System Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of Fourth Radar KRONOS GM HP Successfully Completed

Fusaro/ Italy, 26 May2025 - Within the framework of the OCCAR FSAF-PAAMS Programme, the SAMP/T NG system for  Italy integrates the new radar Kronos GM HP produced by Leonardo. This new radar is a high-performance multifunctional sensor, designed to counter any type of air and missile threats simultaneously, guaranteeing high tactical mobility and quick strategic deployment.

The KRONOS GM HP radar exploits the capability of its Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) antenna to optimize detection, tracking, threat classification and missile guidance as requested to meet the SAMPT NG overall performance.

The radars’ production was launched in 2021 thanks to a Contract awarded to EUROSAM by the FSAF-PAAMS Programme Division of OCCAR-EA to ensure the future integration within the SAMP/T NG sections to be delivered to the Italian Armed Forces. The Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) of the radar Kronos GM HP K6 (fourth one produced for IT SAMP/T NG Sections) have been performed with the presence of OCCAR Staff Member experts at the Leonardo premises in Fusaro / Arco Felice in Italy. A considerable number of tests have been performed, to assess all features and related performances of the Kronos radar.

The successful achievement of this intermediate milestone is key to meet the SAMPT NG programme milestones for the Italian variant, to be delivered to the Italian forces in the coming years.
